KYOTO EXPERIMENT 京都国際舞台芸術祭は、2010 年より毎年京都市内で開催している国際舞台芸術祭です。

そのフェスティバル期間中、観客とフェスティバルとをつなぐ交流の場となるのがメイン会場であるローム・スクエアに出現する「ミーティングポイント」です。

今年のフェスティバルでは、オランダを拠点に活躍する美術家、オスカー・ピータースが手がける木製の巨大ローラーコースターが“ミーティングポイントそのもの”となり、ここでトークイベントやワークショップ、フェスティバルの情報発信が行われるほか、舞台公演の前後には、ほかの観客と感想をシェアしたり、ふらりと立ち寄るアーティストやスタッフとの交流の場となります。

そんな巨大ローラーコースターのレール上を走るのは、人間ではなく【ライダー】と呼ばれるオブジェたちです。この【ライダー】は、伝統工芸・現代美術の各部門でプランを公募するほか、市民向けワークショップで制作も行います。ここに集う作品たちが紡いでいく、もうひとつの“物語” にもご期待を。これまでにないエンタメ感、スケール感が加わったミーティングポイントを、ぜひご体験ください。

Kyoto Experiment is an experimental performing arts festival held annually in the city of Kyoto. The festival Meeting Point at ROHM Square acts as an interactive space where audiences can learn more about the festival.

This year a giant wooden roller coaster, created by Dutch artist Oscar Peters, occupies the square. Information on talks, workshops, and other festival events are distributed from within this wooden sculpture and visitors can gather and chat before and after festival performances. Share thoughts with other audience members, meet artists and staff who drop by and soak up the Kyoto Experiment festival atmosphere.

Running on the rails of the huge roller coaster are cars carrying not passengers but artworks, a thrilling and humorous spectacle! The works transported by the cars are based on plans submitted to an open-call competition with Traditional Crafts and Contemporary Art categories, and also created in workshops for the public. There is also a space where visitors can draw illustrations of roller coaster cars while viewing the works. This year's Meeting Point is bigger and wilder than ever, we hope you stop by!
