今年のKYOTO EXPERIMENT京都国際舞台芸術祭では、メイン会場のひとつ、ロームシアター京都の野外広場「ローム・スクエア」に、オランダを拠点に活動する美術家オスカー・ピータースによる、木製ローラーコースター型の大規模な現代美術作品「The Moving Mountain」が出現します。

そのローラーコースター上を走るのは、人間ではなく【ライダー】と呼ばれるオブジェたちです。本作の重要な要素であるこの〈ライダー〉のプランを、①伝統工芸　②現代美術の2部門で広く募集します。

伝統と現代両方の表現が刺激を与え合い息づく京都文化を体現するような、京都でしか見ることのできない作品展示を目指しています。オスカー・ピータースとの協働による、刺激的で実験的な試みにぜひご参加ください。

At the KYOTO EXPERIMENT 2021 AUTUMN, The Moving Mountain a giant wooden roller coaster, created by the Dutch artist Oscar Peters, will occupy the ROHM square of ROHM Theater Kyoto, which is one of the main venues of the festival.

Running on the rails of the huge roller coaster will be cars carrying not passengers but artworks, creating a thrilling and humorous spectacle that stimulates visitors’ curiosity. These cars carrying artworks that are essential for The Moving Mountain will be selected in an open-call competition with two categories, (1) Traditional Crafts and (2) Contemporary Art.

The goal is to exhibit works that can only be seen in Kyoto, and that embody Kyoto’s culture in which traditional and contemporary arts inspire one another. We invite you to participate in this exciting, experimental project organized in collaboration with Oscar Peters.
